NEC / TO FACE. TO GO

at Azabudai Hills

From Wednesday, April 1 to Tuesday, April 7, 2026, a proof-of-concept experiment was conducted at Azabudai Hills Café for a payment service using facial recognition technology promoted by NEC. The project aimed to enhance the customer experience by making purchasing more seamless and frictionless through its “facial recognition payment service” and “facial recognition ticket-book service.” By using facial information registered in advance, visitors were able to experience a new form of payment, making purchases using only their face without the need for a smartphone or wallet.

The spatial design was handled by the Space Design Team of SCOPE Inc., the parent organization of LENS, while LENS was responsible for video production, intuitively communicating the value of the facial recognition services to visitors.

To create a space and video experience that encouraged visitors to try the service, the videos projected inside the café were designed in conjunction with the overall concept and spatial production, allowing visitors to naturally deepen their understanding of the service. By simply visualizing the full experience flow enabled by facial recognition, as well as the broader potential of the service, the videos played a role in smoothly connecting technology with everyday life.
